How do I connect Workday to Boon via SFTP for One Time Payment integration?

Last updated: July 18, 2026

When setting up the integration between Workday and Boon to automate One Time Payment (OTP) uploads, you may need to configure or troubleshoot the SFTP connection. This article covers the SFTP configuration details and the recommended process for validating and running the integration for the first time.

Answer

To establish connectivity between Workday and Boon via SFTP, use the following production configuration details:

  • Host: sftp.goboon.co

  • Username: Your organization-specific username (e.g., org_<your_org_id>_<identifier>)

  • To connect: sftp <username>@sftp.goboon.co

If you are unsure of your organization's specific SFTP credentials, please contact Boon support to retrieve your production configuration.

For the first production load, it is strongly recommended to follow these steps:

  1. Wait for Boon to confirm that the payments file has been loaded onto the SFTP server.

  2. Pull the file down in a lower/sandbox environment first and validate the payment amounts with the appropriate stakeholders before running in production.

  3. Once amounts are confirmed, schedule and run the integration in the production environment.

Note: If the payouts file appears blank or shows no employee records, this may simply mean there are no active payouts available at that time. Confirm with the Boon team that the file has been populated before proceeding with testing or scheduling the integration.

Going forward, once the integration is fully validated, One Time Payments will be uploaded automatically via the SFTP integration, eliminating the need for manual entry into Workday.
